What is the issue with the Flo Smart Water Monitor and Shutoff?
We have identified a need to update the internal turbine for some earlier versions of the Flo Shutoff. Updating the internal turbine ensures that the device can continue to detect leaks in real time.
Are all units affected or just mine? How many total?
This is a small subset of device owners that we have identified through telemetry, and not all devices are affected. Even if you're not experiencing issues with the data from your device, Moen is proactively reaching out and offering affected Flo Shutoff owners a free replacement turbine to ensure continued real-time leak detection functionality.
Is my home protected from water damage now?
The Flo Smart Water Monitor and Shutoff runs daily tests each night in which it pressurizes the pipes and can still help detect leaks as small as one drop per minute. If an abnormality is detected, Flo will still alert you during this daily test. The system’s ability to detect real-time alerts outside of this daily test may be affected, as might the system’s ability to accurately display flow rates and water usage data within the app. Anytime you spot a leak, you can still use the app to turn off the main water supply in your home.
What happens if I don’t replace the turbine?
The turbine is critical to accurate water flow monitoring and updating the internal turbine will allow your device to maintain its ability to accurately show water use and detect leaks in real time.
