FAQs
To select the right size shutoff for your home, you'll need to know the size of your main water supply line. The size may be clearly marked on the side of your main shutoff valve where the water line enters your home. You can also use our sizing guide to find the right product for your home in a few easy steps.
The Flo Smart Water Monitor and Shutoff is installed in-line on the main cold water supply line. This is typically where the cold-water line comes into your home either through your garage, basement or an exterior wall. We recommend using a plumbing professional for installation, since the Flo Shutoff is a precision-engineered device and installation requires removing a section of your main water pipe.

The Flo Shutoff is designed to operate with a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi connection, which allows the device to connect to your home internet and provide live updates about your water usage. If you’re not sure what type of Wi-Fi connection you have, we recommend reaching out to your internet provider.

Yes, it currently integrates with Alarm.com, Amazon Alexa, Google Home, Nice and Ring.
Yes, the app allows you to track and monitor your home’s water and even turn it off remotely from wherever you are when configured with the proper settings.
The device will send you alerts about abnormal water usage and potential leaks; however, it can’t determine exactly where the leak is in your house. If you receive an alert but can’t find the leak, we recommend contacting your local plumber to investigate.
Home Mode is the regular system mode that is recommended for day-to-day use. Home Mode activates the regular protection expected from the Flo Smart Water Monitor and Shutoff, such as alarm notifications and automatic water shutoff.
Away Mode should be used if you’re away from home for an extended period of time. Away Mode gives you additional protection by learning what your water use is like when you’re away from home, so your device can take quicker action to prevent a potential leak.
Sleep Mode ignores all proactive and real-time tests and quiets all alarm notifications. Sleep Mode should only be used when your home may experience irregular water usage, like washing a car, refilling a swimming pool and having guests stay over. These all use more water than typical everyday usage, which could be identified as a potential leak.
If the device shuts off water to your home, it has most likely identified abnormal water usage like high flow rates. Check your alert history to see why the water was shut off and turn it back on through the app or with the manual switch once you’ve confirmed it’s safe to do so.
No, the Flo Shutoff uses FloSense™ technology to analyze your water usage and distinguish between leaks, drips and typical usage. MicroLeak™ technology also runs daily tests to proactively identify small leaks, and you can even control the sensitivity levels for your home and when you should be alerted in the app.
No, there is no monthly fee to operate your Flo Shutoff and you can access all the features and your water usage data in the app for free.
Yes, the Flo Smart Water Monitor and Shutoff can be installed in a vertical or horizontal position. There are arrow markings on the device that indicate the direction that the water supply should be flowing into the home.
The Flo Shutoff has a one-year limited warranty to cover manufacturer defects. You can find additional details on our warranty page.
